Elle's Seduction Read online

  “Elle, I came to apologize.”

“Really? Apologize for what exactly? Underestimating me, or trying to crush me under your heel like a worthless bug because you thought I’d helped Sally steal from the company.”

  Damn this charade. “Elle?”

“Oh, or maybe it was because you threatened to ruin me?”

Maxwell leapt over the fence and stepped up to her. “Elle. I was wrong.”

Her blue eyes widened, the pupils going dark at his nearness. Her mouth worked as she tried to come up with an answer. He didn’t allow her another chance.

“I was so wrong. I should never have accused you.” Maxwell fought to pull her to him, her body just inches away. “Hell, I even knew I was wrong when I said it. Would it make you feel better if we figured it out shortly after you’d left?”

Elle ignored the puppy as it jumped up and tried to get their attention. Emotions swirling through her eyes. “I would have told you what I’d found but...”

“I walked in on you. Darren and Luke figured it all out. Fred didn’t even know that Sally was sliding extra orders in and then having them mailed to another address.”

Tears filled her eyes as she gripped her arms. “Good. Then I’m free to do what I want. You’re free to go.”

Elle moved to leave, but Maxwell couldn’t hold back another minute. His hands were out pulling her to him faster than he could think. “Don’t leave me.”

She fought his hold, her arms thinner than he remembered. “Don’t!”

Words failed him as he imagined her walking away, leaving him alone. With nothing else to do, he swooped down and captured her lips, pulling her body close. The sweet taste of Elle filled his senses. Vanilla, honey, and sunshine all rolled into one.

Her body relaxed into his with a groan.

He couldn’t get enough. He wanted to crawl into her and never leave. When her body relaxed against him and brushed his erection, he knew they’d better move it inside fast.

Afraid she’d push him away, Maxwell swept her up in his arms and headed toward the house, the little puppy nipping at his heels. “Please tell me your door is open?”

In a daze, she shook her head. “This doesn’t mean you can stay.”

Maxwell looked down at her, his Elle. No matter what he wanted from their relationship, one thing he knew for certain was that she wasn’t going anywhere but in a bed with him for the next few days. “Elle, I’ve got a lot to make up for. Why don’t we leave the decisions for another day?”

Inside the house, he closed the door and set her down. Backed against the door, she couldn’t escape.

Her heart-shaped face flushed, blue eyes sparkling. Those fuck me dimples peeked out at him. Everything about her was meant to seduce him, even those wild locks escaping her haphazard ponytail.

Mute, unable to hold back any longer, he pushed her against the door as he shoved her skirt up her thighs. There would be time for slow and easy. Right now he wanted her.

Maxwell let his guard down, allowing his gaze to roam her body as he’d craved. Her eyes darkened and she gasped. She relaxed back against the door, allowing him a glimpse at those full breasts under her dress.

Her reaction shocked him to his toes. He gripped her neck and pulled her tight, his mouth crushing hers.

Elle’s lips opened at his insistence allowing him to taste. The smell of berries and honey surrounded him as he held her tight, pulling her against the hardness of his arousal. She moaned and snuggled into him tighter.

Lost in the smell and taste of her, he fought for control. It was too fast. He needed to slow down. Soft hands slid down his sides, tugging at his shirt. Cool air slid against his skin as her cold hands fluttered along his jeans. Damn, even with those frigid cold fingers she was making him hot. He considered pushing her away until her hands slid into the front of his trousers.

  “Jesus, Elle.”

A purr of contentment sounded by his breastbone. She was going to be the death of him. He’d dreamed of this for months, he’d never imagined it would feel so good.

  The puppy whined behind them.

  “What about...”

Elle smiled and tugged at his tie, using it like a leash. “Cocoa, bed.”

The puppy let out a last whine and scampered across the room to his huge bed.

She motioned with her hand. “Cocoa, stay.”

Amazed at the dog’s obedience, he was startled to realize how erotic she was being in charge. “Won’t he bother us?”

A wicked smile curved her lips. “Oh, he won’t move until I release him. He only comes when I call him.”

Maxwell swallowed hard at the look in her eye. His voice came out an octave higher than he intended. “Really?”

The wicked way she eyed him, he realized just how much she must have been holding back. “Oh, don’t worry, Mr. Stranton. I can teach you to come when I call too.”

Maxwell pulled her tight to him and slid her against him, loving the way she shuddered at the contact. “Oh, I’ll look forward to it.”

Then finally, he got her to do the one thing he’d wanted for months, she looked him in the eye and swooped in to kiss him like there was nothing else she wanted more than him.
